Leonard Orville Pierce was born February 25, 1937, in Glen Flora, Texas.  His family moved to Houston in 1945 and he attended schools in the Houston Independent School District.  He graduated from John H. Reagan High School in 1957.  Leonard received his BS degree in Industrial Art Education from the University of Houston in 1964 and his masters’ degree in Administration and Supervision from the University of Houston in 1971.  He also received Vocational Trades and Industrial certification from Prairie View A & M University in 1982 and a Peace Officer certification in 1986 from the University of Houston.

Leonard married Gay Chapin on August 30, 1058.  They have one daughter, Gay Lynn Pierce.  He is a member of Fair Haven United Methodist Church in the Spring Branch area where he has lived since 1969.  and has served as the The President of Campbell Place Civic Club Several times. Leonard was a dedicated teacher for thirty-nine years with the Houston Independent School District.  Educating the youth of our county has always been very important to him.

Brother Pierce was raised a Master Mason in Reagan Lodge No. 1037 on October 8, 1960 and served as Worshipful Master in 1994-95.  He affiliated with Memorial Lodge No. 1298 and served as Worshipful Master in 1990-91.  Leonard is also affiliated with S. P. Waltrip Lodge No. 1328, J. W. Chandler Lodge No. 1452, Katy Lodge, Home Sweet Home Lodge and Holland Lodge.  Brother Pierce served the Grand Lodge of Texas as Masonic Relations Officer in 1992 and 1993.  He has also served on the Pubic Education and Photography Committee and as Grand Photographer in 2007 and 2012, And as District Deputy Grand Master of Masonic District 30A in 1996.

Companion Pierce was exalted a Royal Arch Mason in Will N. Kidd Chapter No.424 in 1961 and served as High Priest in 1978-79 and is cuuently serving as Treasurer. He received the Order of High Priesthood on December 4, 1978 and served as District Deputy Grand High Priest in 1991.  In 1993 Companion Pierce received the Golden Keystone Award from the Grand Royal Arch Chapter of Texas in 1993.  Companion Leonard was greeted in San Jacinto Council No.347 in 1961 and served as Thrice Illustrious Master in 1977-78.and is currently serving as Treasurer.  Companion Pierce served as District Deputy Grand Master in 1981.  He received the Super Excellent Master’s degree on October 7th 1961 and served as President of the Super Excellent Master’s Association.  He received the Order of the Silver Trowel on October 29, 1977 and has been serving as Grand Representative to Wisconsin since 1988. He has received the Cryptic Triangle Award and In December of 2016 he received the distinguish Purple Triangle Award. for Time, Talent and Service.

Sir Knight Pierce was Knighted in Ruthven Commandery No.2 on April 21, 1961, was appointed Steward in 1964 and served through the line serving as Commander in 1974.  He is also a member of Park Place Commandery No. 106 and Melrose Commandery No.109.  He was elected Grand Sentinel of the Grand Commandery, Knights Templar of Texas on April 23, 1991.  Sir Knight Leonard served on various committees of the Grand Commandery of Texas and is currently the President and a Director of the Texas Knights Templar Educational Foundation.  He is also a member of Ruthven Commandery No.2 Drill Team having drilled since ????. He also drills on Park Place # 106 and Melrose #109 drill teams. .  He is also Grand Representative to Delaware.  Leonard O. Pierce received the Scottish Rite degrees in 1973 in the Valley of Houston.  He worked in the 4th Degree for several years.  He received the Knight Commander Court of Honor on November 23, 1981 and Coroneted as 33 Degree Inspector General Honorary on November 13, 1999.

Noble Pierce is a member of Arabia Shrine Temple since 1970.  He is a member of the Past Masters Association, Past President of the Shrine Law Enforcement Association and has served on the staff of Arabia Temple for several potentates.

Sir Knight Pierce is a Past President of the Gulf Coast York Rite Association and served as Treasurer.  Companion Knight of York Pierce is a charter member of Gulf Coast York Rite College No.106 and a Past Governor served as Treasurer.  Companion Pierce received the Gold Honor Award in 1987 and the Order of Purple Cross in 1988.  Companion Pierce served as Deputy Grand Governor of the York Rite Sovereign College 0f North America from 1988-1998.  He is also a member of Texas York Rite College No.14.

Brother Pierce is a member of the Royal Order of Scotland, E. B. Nichols Council No.269, Allied Masonic Degrees; Anson Jones Council No.47, The Grand Council of Knight Masons; Thomas H. Ridout Priory No.75,Knight York Cross of Honor; serving as Eminent Prior in 2015,Resurrection Tabernacle No.21, Holy Royal Arch Knight Templar Priests, San Jacinto Conclave Red Cross of Constantine; Chinar Grotto served as Monarch in 2015; Past Patron of Spring Branch No. 984 and Houston Heights Chapter No.258, O.E.S.; Advisory Board member of Spring Branch Assembly No.233 and West Side Assembly No.233, International Order of Rainbow for Girls and holder of the Grand Cross of Color.   He is also a member in the ST. Thomas of Acon.

He has been a Deputy Constable since 1975 and is currently serving as Master Peace Officer and Bailiff for Precinct 4, Harris Constable.

In 2017 He completed his 50th year of Drill Competition for Ruthven Commandery’s Drill team.
