Ruthven Commandery No. 2 was set to work on June 23, 1855, having been granted a charter by The Grand Commandery Knights Templar of Texas. We support many charities; the Knights Templar Eye Foundation; the Knights Templar Holy Land Pilgrimage, College Scholarships and more.

In the one hundred and sixty years of our existence, we have been led by notable men of honor, benevolence and distinction.

Had the pleasure of Presenting the flag talk tonight and attending My Father and Grandfather’s Original lodge, SP Waltrip.
They performed the raising on this New Old Glory before their stated Meeting. Thank You SK and DDGM Marvin Haas for the suggestion and talking with WM on the idea.

Guess its the Knights Templar in me - pledged to wield my sword in defense of innocent maiden, destitute widows. helpless orphans and the Christian religion.

And to feed the hungry, clothed the naked and bind up the wounds of the afflicted

This morning we had a particularly rewarding church service at our first visit to Christ Church Cathedral. I remember it being often cited in the bio's of out past commanders - but wasn't quite prepared to see our past commanders and grands names honored in prominent plaques inside the cathedral. Wow, it was like a glimpse at whole another side of
our herritage

Christ Church Cathedral is downtown corner of Texas and San Jacinto - the old side close to where Ruthven met in the then Grand Lodge before it burned.

I dunno, it kind of brought things full circle - I would suggest that we invite/include Christ Church Cathedral participation in one of our future observance (Christmas or Easter). I will be happy at the EC direction to help arrange - if for no more reason than to pay homage to what our past knights built.
Here's their history page...
